Prepare a space that can get a little messy and check for allergies to dairy.
Combine this with a visit to an historic area or do on its own. Talk a bit about the difference between getting something at the store and having to make everything you use.
This takes quite a bit of shaking. Consider putting the kids in groups of 2 or 3 to give them a break or to continue the shaking when one gets tired or bored.

Consider going to a living history exhibit, park, or re-enactment event. Combine this with historic games, crafts, or costumes. Encourage conversations with grandparents. Consider visiting a dairy if possible.
